Job Summary
The Vice President of Finance is a strategic executive responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization, with strong emphasis on planning, budgeting and analysis tailored to the demands of our unique customer-focused logistics solutions. The role includes financial reporting, budgeting, analysis and managing the finance team with specific focus on optimizing financial performance within the logistics operations, ensuring efficient cost management, and aligning financial strategies with the company's overall logistics goals. This executive will work closely with the President and senior leadership to support company growth objectives and maintain financial health.
Key Responsibilities
· Strategic Financial Leadership:
· Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals to support growth and operational efficiency.
· Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify revenue and cost drivers, profit margins, and areas for improvement across the logistics network.
· Provide insights and recommendations to the President and Board of Directors on financial performance and strategic initiatives.
· Financial Reporting and Compliance:
· Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, analysis reports and presentations for the Board of Directors and executive leadership.
· Implement systems and tools for enhanced financial analysis and data-driven decision making.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
· Operational Management and Optimization:
· Oversee daily financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the financial accounting process, reporting, and internal controls.
· Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of processes where accounting and finance integrate with operations, sales and information technology departments.
· Other duties assigned.
· Team Leadership and Development:
· Lead and develop the finance team, providing mentorship and support to ensure the team is aligned with the company’s objective and high standards of performance.
· Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance department as well across all company departments.
· Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations:
· Collaborate with the logistics operations team to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, operational efficiencies, and strategic growth opportunities.
· Collaborate with the information technology team to make the finance team more efficient, insightful and strategic, enabling them to deliver more value to the company.
· Work closely with sales, operations and pricing teams to understand customer needs and pricing strategies and ensure the goals and initiatives of the finance team support the customer-focused logistics solutions.
Required Skills and Experience
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
· 10+ years of progressive experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in a senior financial role.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey financial information to stakeholders
· Proficiency in ERP systems and financial software
