Job Description :
Our client, a real estate firm headquartered in Nashville, TN, is seeking a full-time, self-starter for a Staff Accountant position to provide accounting support to the Controller and Partner-CFO. The ideal candidate possesses high attention to detail, while able to work independently on multiple projects with accuracy and efficiency. This is a hybrid position located in Nashville, TN.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of bank accounts for 30+ properties.
- Inquire and resolve outstanding checks or deposits for 30+ properties.
- Track and follow-up on potential unclaimed property.
- Prepare accrual basis financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, actual to budget variance reports, and cash flows for 2-4 multi-family residential properties.
- Perform the monthly close which includes creating and posting journal entries, reviewing expenses for appropriate general ledger coding, and creating general journal entries for manually calculated accruals.
- Proficient in creating spreadsheets in Excel for various uses (i.e., analyzing data, making templates, etc.).
- Compile monthly financial reporting packages for partners, investors, and third-party clients.
- Preparing or assisting with correspondence to our investors, clients, brokers, vendors, managers, external auditors, tax preparers, etc.
- Assist with ad hoc requests for financial information and analysis.
- Travel on occasion for the annual company-wide leadership conference.
Required Qualifications :
Requirements:
- Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1-2 years of accounting experience.
- Basic accounting knowledge of accounts receivable, prepaids, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, and journal entries.
- Ability to meet time constraints and client deadlines.
- Computer proficient with experience in MS-Office Excel and willingness to learn various software (RealPage Financial Suite, RealPage OneSite, Yardi Voyager, Oracle)
- Communicate effectively with others (written, verbal, virtual).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
