Job Description :
Our client, a privately held, full-service real estate development company, is searching for a Staff Accountant to join their team. To coordinate and review all accounting functions and financial statements in a timely fashion. This position is fully in office, with the possibility of 1 day/week WFH, in Nashville, TN.
Essential Functions
- Perform monthly full-cycle accounting functions for multiple Multi-family/Commercial developments including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and monitoring/reviewing receivables and payables.
- Assist in preparation of monthly executive reporting package.
- Manage the monthly construction draw process for multiple entities and assist with the month-end financial close process of all related entities, including related owner entities.
- Review job costs for budget variances, cost code errors, and other posting errors on invoices, etc.
- Collaborate with Community Managers, Leasing Teams and assist with tenant issues when asked.
- Handle fixed asset accounting functions and manage depreciation schedules.
- Assist with year-end audits and tax returns.
- Participate in special projects and prepare ad-hoc reports as required.
- Preparation of monthly financial statements and related balance sheet reconciliations.
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, with strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual basis accounting and financial reporting.
- 3-5 years of applicable accounting experience required.
- 1-3 years real estate/property management related accounting experience strongly preferred. CPA license considered a strong plus.
- Sage CRE and/or Yardi experience preferred.

- Strong analytical and organizational skills required, including the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Excellent time management skills, drive to take initiative, use of good judgment, strong sense of urgency and attention to detail in order to carry multiple projects through to completion.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints, as well as the ability to deal with frequent interruptions, unresolved situations, frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal professionally with clients, vendors, and co-workers through e-mail, on the phone and in person.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Ability to keep sensitive information highly confidential.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work and ask for further clarification when necessary.
