Job Description :
Our client, a leading service provider in Nashville, TN, is searching for a Staff Accountant to join their team. This role requires day to day management of all general accounting and financial processes of the company. The Staff Accountant will perform financial transactions and post them in the general ledger, with strong attention to detail. Ultimately, the Staff Accountant is responsible for providing all accounting functions necessary to ensure the timely and accurate financial reporting of monthly company operations. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the coordination of the timely and accurate closing of the books within Quickbooks.
- Maintain control over all inputs into Quickbooks; Monitor timeliness and accuracy of all interfaces into QB and make adjustments and corrections as necessary.
- Gain a working knowledge of other applications that feed financials, to ensure ability to analyze and confirm accuracy of all inputs.
- Ensure all revenue is booked accurately in line with GAAP revenue recognition guidelines and cost of goods are appropriately matched.
- Accounts payable to include review of invoices, ensure proper coding, and processing of payments.
- Maintain all balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Display advanced Excel skills with the ability to input, extrapolate and analyze data effectively and efficiently.
- Provide financial data and analysis needed by management to help make informed business decisions.
- Display the ability to respond to questions regarding unanticipated variances to Budgets and known plans.
- Cash Management- Ensure all banking/cash activity is booked daily to allow for management of cash flow needs.
- Financial Management - Continually work with management team members to assess internal controls, to ensure minimal opportunity for fraud or loss. Provide outside CPA firm with necessary information required to comply with state, local and federal tax requirements.
Required Qualifications :
- BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 3+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred
- Minimum of 1 year Quickbooks experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
- Proficiencies with Microsoft Office products with advanced Excel Skills
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Positive attitude and a willingness to learn and be taught new skillsets
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information
