Senior Property Accountant / Assistant Controller-14059
Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations related to property management, including managing general ledger entries, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and experience in property management accounting.
Key Responsibilities
· Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
· General Ledger Management: Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of entries.
· Property Accounting: Manage accounting functions for multiple properties, including rent roll management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reconciliation of property-related accounts.
· Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation and analysis of budgets and forecasts for properties, including variance analysis and reporting.
· Internal Controls: Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
· Audit Support: Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits and assist auditors as needed.
· Financial Analysis: Perform financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.
· Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
· Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and property management regulations.
· Client Relations: Communicate effectively with property owners, tenants, and other stakeholders to address financial inquiries and resolve issues.
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
· Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in property management accounting or a related field.
· Skills:
· Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
· Strong understanding of GAAP and property management accounting principles.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
