Job Description :

Our client is seeking a Senior Director of Tax to own the tax provision process for the company. The Senior Director, Tax oversees all aspects of the quarterly and annual tax provision (ASC 740), and coordinates the tax compliance process with external consultants.  Assists senior management with various tax compliance and other tax-related tasks necessary to manage the overall tax position of the company.  Monitors the organization’s tax structure, analyzes new or changed tax legislation and advises management on all tax matters.



  • The incumbent should be able to perform all of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the job performance requirements.

  • Responsible for managing the quarterly and annual tax provision process (ASC 740) and assist in the preparation of related financial statement disclosures.

  • Maintains tax basis balance sheet, deferred tax inventory, and documentation and support of uncertain tax positions.  Evaluates the need for any new uncertain tax positions and/or valuation allowances.

  •  Oversees the reconciliation of all tax balance sheet accounts.

  •  Assists with partnership ownership and capital account maintenance, as well as tax basis capital account maintenance.

  • Coordinates the preparation of the company's U.S. federal and state income tax returns, including extensions and quarterly estimates, with external service providers.

  •  Assists with income tax planning and analysis, responds to tax notices and federal and state audits.

  • Responsible for monitoring and developing internal controls over income tax reporting processes, as well as managing quarterly reviews and year-end audits from both internal and external auditors.

  •  Serves as a liaison between Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Legal and other internal customers to ensure appropriate management of tax reporting and risk.

  • Prepares tax depreciation and tax basis supporting schedules for over $3 billion dollar fixed asset portfolio.

  • Monitors and keeps management informed of new tax laws and tax developments relevant to the company.

Company is currently remote with plans for a hybrid work arrangement post COVID. 

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.  Five years of relevant work experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm is required.  

  • CPA certificate is preferred.  

  • Graduate level degree in tax is preferred.  

  • Experience in taxation with large, publicly traded corporation preferred.  

  • Advanced technical proficiency in ASC 740 is required.  Experience with SEC external reporting and administration of Sarbanes Oxley compliance process is preferred.  

  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to operate in multi-task and deadline driven environment is required.  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
