Job Description :
Our client is seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst- Value Based Care to play an integral role in the medical margin reporting function at our rapidly growing company. This position will report to the Director of Accounting and will assist in monthly financial reporting. This position will be a key player in the month-end close process by preparing, recording, and analyzing accounting transactions to ensure the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance to GAAP. This position will have a great opportunity for growth as the finance department continues to expand, given the rapid growth trajectory of the Company.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ability to understand and interpret risk-based care payor contracts, fee schedules and impact on financial results.
- Help design and implement processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the revenue and claims reporting function and accommodate company growth.
- Create thorough process documentation of procedures performed.
- Prepare and record journals entries for revenue and medical expenses with accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to understand the data and underlying supporting cost trends.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations as applicable.
- Ensure general ledger accounts are analyzed, reconciled, and properly supported.
- Assist in monthly financial reporting to help reconcile and resolve any variances or discrepancies as needed.
- Possess a strong understanding of internal controls.
- Ad-hoc projects and initiatives, as needed.
Required Qualifications :
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Detail oriented with strong judgment, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Solid Excel skills (i.e. vlookup, pivot tables)
- Prior healthcare accounting experience, with fundamental understanding of revenue recognition principles as it relates to value-based healthcare.
- Understanding of IBNR reserves and medical claims lag concepts
- Energetic, collaborative, and disciplined with ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience
- Prior healthcare experience required, with Medicare Advantage risk-based accounting preferred
- Prior experience with IBNR reserves and claims lag concepts required
- Experience with Oracle NetSuite a plus, but not required
- Prior experience in a growing, fast paced environment
