Job Description :

The Sr. Accountant is responsible for performing senior-level accounting functions of the organization, including cash, A/P, A/R, retail accounting and audit, and fuel accounting functions.  Provides direct support to the Controller.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.

  • Maintains and balances general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions, and by resolving discrepancies.

  • Participates in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system change.

  • Provides department focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.

  • Assists with reconciling, auditing, and researching daily store paperwork and site level discrepancies.

  • Performs and/or gives leadership to cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable and fuel accounting functions.

  • Assists with compliance reviews.

  • Assists with analyses, preparation, and distribution of financial statements.

  • Assists with the development and establishment of any new accounting policies and procedures related to the implementation of process and system changes.

  • Prepares assigned schedules for interim and annual audits.

  • Ensures proper handling and distribution of company funds.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all company, client, employee, and vendor information.

  • Reacts productively to change.

  • Performs other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively-responsible corporate accounting experience across a variety of functions

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation, or CPA candidate

  • Experience in the retail, hospitality, and/or C-Store industries is preferred

  • Or, any equivalent combination of education and experience in job-related activities
