Job Description :
The Senior Accountant manages accounting activities related to business operations and has direct oversight for the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. The Senior Accountant performs accounting functions, such as: accounts receivable, billing, bank reconciliation, reporting, debits and credits, accounts payable and coding.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs accounting functions such as: accounts receivable, billing, bank reconciliation, reporting, debits and credits, accounts payable and coding.
• Manages the day to day activities of the accounts payable function.
• Reconciles vendor statements and customer accounts.
• Researches and corrects discrepancies.
• Generates monthly pass through invoices and answers client questions for complicated contractual arrangements.
• Enters cash deposits into accounting system and manages broker commissions.
• Prepares monthly management fee invoices.
• Pays vendors weekly and communicates with vendors to address payment issues.
• Monitors accounts receivable and works with clients to collect past due balances.
• Completes monthly co-pay entries in the accounting system and related bank reconciliations.
• Manages the communication allowance program on a monthly basis and performs annual review.
• Interacts directly with customer care departments to address customer issues.
• Communicates with external clients by both phone and email.
• Generates and manages various reports.
• Performs bank reconciliations and assists in month end close and fixed assets tracking.
• Maintains files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
• Assists in weekly accounts payable functions as needed, including data entry in the accounting system
Required Qualifications :
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; AND Four (4) or more years of relevant work experience in accounting; OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred
• Ability to make independent decisions, solve problems, and prioritize workload
• Knowledge of general accounting practices related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, and debits and credits
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Experience in Intact software preferred
• Strong problem solving skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently, and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to use technology to collect, manipulate data, determine significant findings, and present reports
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to address individuals and small groups
• Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability under strict deadlines
