Position Summary:

Our client, a highly profitable $12M commercial painting company, is searching for an Office Manager/Controller to join their team. This is a full-time, in-office position in Nashville, TN. The Company provides services such as commercial and industrial painting, wall covering, high performance coatings and specialty finishes, substrate prep, and more.  This position reports directly to the owner and will be wholly responsible for all accounting, finance and HR duties and responsibilities. This position will wear many hats and work closely with the owner.


The person currently in the position is retiring and has agreed to stay and assist with onboarding until the incumbent feels comfortable with the role.



  • Conduct and facilitate month-end financial close process and function, inclusive of monthly job cost reports, sales and use tax returns, and bank reconciliations

  • Prepare monthly financial statements

  • Conduct and facilitate duties associated with the Company’s daily, weekly, and monthly accounts receivable (deposits) and accounts payable (vendor bills & job cost association) functions

  • Manage deadlines with regards to insurances, tax payments, and other various scheduled tasks

  • Responsible for understanding, researching, and analyzing timekeeping and payroll information

  • Completing bi-weekly payroll for approx. 15+ employees to submit to a third-party payroll company

  • Experienced in performing Human Resource tasks such as benefit administration, 

  • Manage the 401k plan (reporting, year-end functions)

  • Prepare standard monthly journal entries and relevant support

  • Identify ways to reduce costs & improve efficiency

  • Manage and review company-wide cash flow both on a weekly and monthly basis with the CEO

  • Coordinate with company CPA to complete federal taxes

  • Coordinate annual audit with CPA firm and annual renewal of both medical and workers comp/general liability insurance
