Job Description :
Our client is stable, and a growing manufacturing company looking to add a Materials Manager to their Team!  Excellent opportunity for someone who can handle a fast paced environment, be able to think their feet, be analytically minded, but be able to mentor and coach their staff. 
Required Qualifications :
 

  • Strong working knowledge of Inventory Control practices, including discrepancy resolution, root cause determination and correction.

  • The ability to make decisions, problem solve and prioritize assignments in an ever-changing, warehouse environment.

  • Monitors production schedules, inventory reports to determine the type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock and order priority to ensure on-time delivery for production.

  • Confers with production personnel to determine status of assigned projects to determine if overage will be needed on floor.

  • Oversee monthly/quarterly/annual inventory control activity to ensure accurate system inventory Create material flow to ensure materials delivery on-time for internal and external customer orders

  • Oversees returns process

  • Establishes levels of inventory according to min/max system.

  • Anticipate and resolve problems with short-term and permanent corrective actions.

  • Implement logistics and inventory control processes which ensures the availability of materials for an uninterrupted flow of production in accordance with delivery schedules, while maintaining minimum inventories.

  • Assist with the development of inventory and freight budgets for the purpose of establishing acceptable inventory levels and freight spend upon which performance can be measure and operating controls affected. 

  • Manage the most economical inbound/outbound transportation routes, looking for opportunities to combine shipments, milk runs, and warehouse consolidation and distribution.

  • Manages and oversees warehouse activities and staff, including shipping, receiving, picking, and cycle counting.

  • Writes and documents standardized training procedures to be followed by all employees.

  • Creates and generates reports related to all functional areas of the warehouse department, including inventory management.

  • Select, motivate, train and ensure development of a competent department and material handling staff.

  • Monitor and ensure departmental personnel conform to company policies and procedures while maintaining a safe and cost-efficient environment.

  • Be familiar with and ethically operate in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and governmental procedures relative to purchasing and financial reporting activities.

  • Employ techniques/methods for effective problem solving and continuous improvement.

  • In-depth knowledge of materials management (inventory, procurement) business acumen, principles, and best practices; current with relevant trends and applications

  • Strong problem-solving, strategic-thinking, and critical-analysis ability; able to make effective decisions and execute an appropriate course of action that complies with procurement and inventory control requirements while supporting business objectives

  • Strong leadership skills; understanding of performance management and conflict resolution principles, able to lead others and translate skills through training and mentoring

  • Excellent attention to detail; time management, project management, and organizational skills; able to perform a wide variety of tasks and multi-task efficiently

  • Proficient with business management or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software; Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong verbal and written communications; able to draft policy and procedures relative to management responsibilities; able to speak, read, and write English fluently

  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills; able to build and maintain rapport, and work effectively cross-functionally and with external customers (e.g., clients/customers, dealers, vendors, contractors)

  • Professional and business judgment with high level of integrity and ethics, able to handle sensitive and proprietary information with discretion and confidentiality

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work to deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
