Our client, an established and growing private equity firm, would like to add a Manager of Music Royalty and Data Analytics to their collegial and entrepreneurial team. The role is a full-time, paid position located in Nashville, TN.

Our client private equity funds invest globally in the music catalogs of major and independent record labels, music publishers and occasionally, recording artists and songwriters.

The team has developed a highly differentiated approach to investing in music and is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the growth in music streaming globally.

Position Description:

1. Assist the Directors of Music Royalty Analytics and Data Analytics in their roles and responsibilities


2. Collaborate closely with the Underwriting Team to value catalogs


3. Prepare data for pre-acquisition catalog forecasting, underwriting analyses, and scheduling


4. Prepare data for post-acquisition catalog trending analyses, forecasting, and portfolio monitoring


5. Process, review and reconcile raw third-party royalty statements using proprietary data analytics system, including error reconciliation, internal statement review, basic data analytics, and reconciliation to actual cash receipts


6. Communicate with third parties to track paid and unpaid royalty reports to ensure timely collection, following up on delinquent reports with third parties when necessary


7. Uncover and collect on unreported earnings and missed payments


8. Help manage our in-house catalog database


9. Help manage our data processing team


10. Support audit requests


11. Respond to ad hoc inquiries in an accurate and timely fashion

Position Requirements:

1. Bachelor degree with a major in Finance, Accounting, Music Business, Data Analytics or related major


2. Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the music business


3. Experience with sales and royalty statements from multiple DSPs, distributors, PROs and other sources


4. CFA certification preferred


5. Ability to read and understand distribution, administration, recording, and publishing agreements preferred


6. Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office applications


7. Tableau experience or other data visualization software preferred


8. Ability to execute work with high attention to detail


9. Independent self-starter who can self-manage daily workflow
