Job Description :
Our client in Nashville, TN in the real estate industry has an immediate need for an Interim Controller for a 3 – 6 month project.
Job Duties:
- Orchestrate all multi-family real estate development accounting functions, including reviewing General Contractor AIA documents and monthly construction loan draw packages and monitoring percent of project completion
- Review financial statements and executive management reporting/variance analysis for accuracy and clarity, ensuring all transactions are in accordance with GAAP
- Manage cash flows for all entities, including loan advances, equity funding requests, and vendor payments
- Coordinate the month-end and year-end closing process.
- Foster private equity partner and lender relationships, providing PE investor with monthly/quarterly reporting needs and year-end tax reports, and effectively communicating banking needs with lenders
- Collaborate with FP&A team to ensure project budgets are accurate and in line with strategic plans
- Lead and develop a team of staff/senior accountants, mentoring them to set and achieve goals that align with departmental objectives and Company values
- Serve as liaison to external tax preparers and GAAP auditors
- Monitor compliance with partnership agreements and various loan covenants
- Accumulate and synthesize meaningful data for executive management to aid in company initiatives
Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Experience with Yardi and Sage 300 is a plus
- Ability to keep sensitive information highly confidential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong and pleasant telephone and interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal professionally with clients, vendors, and co-workers on the phone and in person.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to take initiative, use good judgment, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail, and carry multiple projects through to completion.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work and ask for further clarification when necessary.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints, as well as the ability to deal with frequent interruptions, unresolved situations, frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- CPA license is preferred
- 10+ years’ experience in all aspects of accounting
- Proven supervisory experience
