Our client is a leading ambulatory surgery center (ASC) development and management company, overseeing financial and operational aspects of multiple ASCs through joint ventures and direct management agreements. The company has an equity investment in joint ventures and manages the finance operations of those partnerships.
Role Overview
The Interim CFO will provide strategic financial leadership and oversee all financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, and acquisition & development activities. This role will also potentially lead financial integration efforts related to the company’s adoption of Anaplan.
The Interim CFO will report directly to the CEO and have 4 direct reports, with oversight of a total team of 10.
This position requires on-site travel to North Carolina (1-2 trips per month).
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Provide strategic financial insights to support business growth, acquisitions, and joint venture initiatives.
- Accounting & Financial Operations
- Lead and manage all accounting functions, including compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise the finance team and ensure efficient month-end and year-end close processes.
- Oversee treasury and cash flow management.
- Systems & Process Optimization
- Lead financial systems integration, including Anaplan adoption and optimization of Snowflake for reporting.
- Work closely with IT and finance teams to enhance financial reporting and analytics.
- Joint Ventures & M&A Support
- Provide financial due diligence and valuation support for acquisitions and joint ventures.
- Support strategic decision-making for ASC development and partnership opportunities.
- HR & Payroll Oversight
- Work with the PEO provider to ensure compliance with HR, payroll, and benefits administration.
- Oversee payroll operations managed through Gusto.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, preferably in healthcare, ASC management, or multi-site operations.
- Previous CFO, VP of Finance, or senior financial leadership experience in a private equity-backed or mid-sized healthcare organization.
- Experience leading finance teams (direct oversight of at least 4-5 people).
- Strong knowledge of joint venture accounting, ASC operations, and healthcare finance.
- Experience with financial planning and reporting tools (Anaplan, Snowflake, Gusto, HST EMR preferred).
- CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus.
Travel & Commitment
- Full-time interim role (2-3 months).
- Travel required: 1-2 trips per month to North Carolina.
