Job Summary
The accounting manager oversees monthly accounting and finance activities related to business operations for their division. The manager will supervise the month-end close process and oversee the preparation of monthly operating reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
Essential Functions
· Assists in the day-to-day operations of accounting and finance in a fast-paced growing healthcare environment.
· Oversees the month-end close process and leads the accounting team to provide accurate and timely data.
· Oversees the preparation and review of forecasts, budgets, and financial statements.
· Provides support to the operations team so they can make timely, impactful decisions.
· Analyzes general ledger variances and suggests corrective action to meet financial objectives.
· Develops action plans, proposes efficiency improvements, and identifies opportunities for cost reductions for their division.
· Reviews revenue and expenses, analyzes financial data, prepares ad hoc reports, maintains internal controls and other best practices, and reports activity to internal and external stakeholders.
· Supervises and mentors accounting staff and seniors, including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training programs, and identifying training needs.
· Maintains files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
· Performs regular analysis of business outcomes vs prior period actuals and budget.
· Assists in the planning and implementation of various business processes in order to improve and support business processes and activities.
Competencies
· Proficiency with MicrosoftOffice software applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
· Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel formulas (XLookup, pivot tables, ad hoc financial modeling)
· Familiarity with general ledger / accounting software (experience with Sage Intacct is a plus)
· Strong problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Ability to use technology to collect, manipulate data, determine significant findings, and clearly present information
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while maintaining accountability under strict deadlines
Required Education & Experience
· Bachelors Degree (required) with a concentration in Accounting or Finance
· CPA preferred
· 5-8 years of public accounting experience
· Multi-site healthcare experience preferred
· Experience in fast growing private equity backed company preferred
