Job Description :
Seeking a Finance Director who will be responsible for the oversight of the fiscal operation of a nonprofit organization with multiple social enterprises, including general accounting and financial control functions, plus development and implementation of a financial strategy for long-term sustainability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain all financial records according to agency policy and program funding requirements

  • Provide oversight of all financial reporting, ensuring that timely and accurate information is distributed

  • Work closely with Executive Director to understand and strategize management of the budget; provide guidance on financial implications of agency decisions, including financial aspects for development of new business enterprises; generate prospective budgets for new and expanded ventures and programs

  • Supervise bookkeeper to maintain proper fiscal records and liaise with other staff members to facilitate staff monitoring/management/projection of program budgets

  • Manage, invoice, and report on all government and private grants, ensuring proper cost allocation methods are applied and documentation is maintained

  • Manage, invoice, and report on all business (earned) income as well as fundraising proceeds

  • Generate dashboard reporting and deliver detailed financial analyses specific to agency enterprises

  • Maintain employee payroll, process payroll through third party provider, and record transactions in the accounting system

  • Maintain and update agency fiscal policies

  • Reconcile financial records monthly and produce financial reports for Leadership Team and Board of Directors

  • Develop annual agency budget in conjunction with Executive Director and Board Treasurer, and create budget revisions as necessary; generate actual-to-budget analyses for agency-wide operation and for particular funding streams

  • Manage liability insurance coverage and liaise with insurance brokers

  • Supervise annual audit and 990 preparation by external audit firm

Required Qualifications :

  • Degree in Accounting

  • 5 years progressive experience in nonprofit accounting preferred
