Position Summary
Reporting to the Pastor/Head of Staff and working with the Church Finance and Audit Committees, the Director of Finance is responsible for managing all financial operations, accounting, budgeting, and reporting activities for the Church. The Director will work closely with ministry leaders, senior leadership, and committees, ensuring effective systems and procedures are in place to support ministry goals and conduct flawless audits.

Key Responsibilities

·         Finance and Accounting Leadership:

o    Collaborate with leadership on financial matters, including presenting reports to the Finance Committee and Generosity/Stewardship Team.

o    Lead the annual budgeting process, ensuring input from various Church departments and committees.

o    Provide regular financial reports, analyze data, and advise leadership on financial status.

o    Ensure compliance with GAAP standards, manage cash flow forecasting, and oversee financial systems and audits.

o    Maintain internal controls for revenue and expenditures and manage restricted and endowment funds.

·         Team Leadership:

o    Supervise and develop the Finance team, ensuring optimal performance and cross-training.

o    Foster a supportive and collaborative work environment, aligning Finance operations with the Church’s ministry goals.

·         Accounting Duties:

o    Oversee reconciliations, including bank, online giving, and balance sheet accounts.

o    Prepare journal entries, handle accounts payable/receivable, and ensure accurate financial statements.

o    Manage payroll, benefit deductions, and ensure compliance with tax regulations.

o    Lead the preparation for annual audits and regulatory filings, including tax returns and 1099 forms.

o    Monitor and improve accounting policies to enhance internal controls and accuracy.

Qualifications:

·         Education:

o    Bachelor’s degree in accounting (CPA preferred).

·         Experience:

o    7-10 years in accrual-based accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and auditing.

o    Experience in nonprofit or church accounting is preferred.

o    Strong leadership and management skills with prior oversight of HR functions a plus.

·         Skills/Abilities:

o    Strong relationship with Jesus Christ and integration of faith in daily work.

o    Proficiency in accounting software (Aplos and Ministry Platform preferred).

o    Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

o    Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
