Job Description :

The Director of Finance is a newly created position and will lead the Finance function of the company including all aspects of finance including development proformas, financing through lenders and joint venture partners, financial reporting, tax compliance, audit and related administration.     Reporting directly to the President, the position will grow to include direct reports.  This position is a “hands on” role and integral to the company's core operations.


The successful candidate will be a highly organized, detail oriented, self-reliant, problem solver. He/She must be a motivated, energetic individual who is an excellent multi-tasker with top-notch organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills. The Director of Finance will be self-directed and independent, but also able to effectively collaborate with the entire team to achieve Company goals.



  • Oversee the proformas for new development including review of joint venture proformas.

  • Manage the process to obtain construction loans and then permanent financing.

  •  Review construction draws and development budget to actual reporting.

  • Oversee the lender reporting.

  • Prepare quarterly tax estimates and oversee the tax return process. Manage the tax professionals group and communication. Prepare shareholder communication related to taxes.

  • Prepare quarterly financial reports including the consolidation of all joint ventures.  Prepare quarterly reports for board.  Assist with board and shareholder meeting preparation.

  • Prepare combined annual budget using the property and joint venture budgets.

  • Review quarterly joint venture reporting and track actual performance of JV to initial budget.

  • Work closely with Controller to understand impact of portfolio performance on financials and taxable income. 

Required Qualifications :

  • 8+ years of experience, preferably in public accounting with real estate preferred

  • Experience working in accounting/regulatory reporting (SEC or PE reporting)

  • CPA with public accounting experience is preferred, but not required

  • Strong portfolio financial modeling experience

  • Strong MS Office including Intermediate Excel skills.

  • Proficiency with Yardi preferred

  • Quick learner, self-starter, innovative thinker, and effective problem solver

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and energy to address evolving requirements of a growing organization

  • Able to prioritize and orchestrate deadlines across a portfolio of responsibilities

  • Solid analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or another business-related field.
