Job Summary
The Director of Collections and Accounts Receivable oversees and manages the billing and collections teams. This position consults with the Controller and Chief Financial Officer on policies, practices, and procedures regarding collections and accounts receivable. The Director of Collections and Accounts Receivable must be able to research, analyze, and report discrepancies, problems, and recommend solutions as necessary.
Duties/Responsibilities
· Oversees all billing, accounts receivable, and collection activities.
· Implement and manage the internal billing process and procedures.
· Recognize trends and identify AR issues.
· Prepare regular reports on collections activities, presenting data and insights to upper management.
· Promote ongoing development of metrics in order to continually optimize team performance.
· Monitor, audit, and analyze the performance of the collections team, implementing measures to improve productivity and success rates
· Ensures that billing practices are accurate and cash expectations are met.
· Assists other departments in answering questions related to balance owed, payments received, and general client account questions.
· Drive assigned team to meet targets in relation to delinquency and losses.
· Establish policies, procedures, and best practices for the collections and A/R team.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
· 2-3 years of experience with Netsuite or similar accounting software.
· 3-5 years of experience managing and developing a team.
· Must be extremely detail oriented and have exceptional organizational skills.
· Has experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and common goals.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of internal and external customers.
· Deep understanding of collection regulations, credit policies and legal processes.
Education and Experience
· 3+ years of experience in collections required.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills that demonstrate resourcefulness and attention to detail.
· Willing and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
· Experience with Excel/Google sheets/Gsuite.
· Strong accounting and financial reporting skills.
