Job Description
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including the annual budget, monthly financial reports, and year-end audits.
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliations ensuring that financial records are complete and accurate. Review the journal entries and reconciliations prepared by the Accounting team, ensuring they are complete and accurate.
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the organization including accounts payable accounts receivable banking, fixed assets, and general ledger.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, contracts and accounting standards.
- Provides organizational support activities in the evaluation, development and implementation of operational internal controls to ensure transactional processing systems are properly controlled to ensure data integrity, completeness and timeliness.
- Lead the annual audit process single audit, and 990 preparations.
- Prepare support and ensure audit deadlines are adhered to.
- Support the annual budgeting process.
- Responsible for coordinating renewals and support for audits for the non-benefit insurances of the organization including general liability, auto insurance, property insurance, workers comp, and flood insurances.
- Oversee annual personal property tax filings, property tax filings, 1099 preparations.
- Oversee monthly sales tax filing.
- Supervision of the Accounting Department Staff.
- Manage and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist departments with special projects as requested and other duties as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
· Education
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
· Experience
· Five to ten years’ experience in accounting in a similar position is required.
· CPA and supervisory experience required.
Knowledge and Skills
· Must have a strong knowledge of GAAP.
· Must have high moral standards.
· Must have a great work ethic.
Certifications and Licenses
· Must be bondable.
Preferred Education/Experience/Knowledge & Skills/Certifications & License
· Prefer Master’s Degree
· Prefer non-profit and grant accounting experience.
· Experience with Sage Intacct preferred.
· Experience with Single Audit preferred.
· Experience with Workday/Adaptive budgeting preferred.
