Position Summary:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations and accounting functions. This includes managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial statements. The role demands strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of logistics operations to effectively manage accounting, financial analysis, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
· Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring they comply with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
· Provide in-depth analysis of financial results, offering insights into key performance indicators (KPIs), cost drivers, and profitability.
· Prepare reports on financial performance, including variances from budget and forecast, and present to senior management.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
· Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for the company, ensuring alignment with business strategies and objectives.
· Analyze financial trends and support management in making informed decisions related to cost control, revenue generation, and capital expenditures.
Cash Flow Management:
· Monitor cash flow and ensure the company has sufficient liquidity to meet its obligations and operational needs.
· Work with operations and senior management to optimize cash management and working capital strategies.
Internal Controls and Process Improvement:
· Establish and enforce strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud or financial misreporting.
· Evaluate current processes and procedures and utilize background and experience to set up best practices
· Coordinate audits with external auditors and manage year-end audit processes.
Qualifications:
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
Experience:
· Minimum of 5-7 years in accounting/finance with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
· Experience in the logistics, transportation, or supply chain industry is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
· Proficiency in financial software with experience with McLeod preferred
· Strong understanding of GAAP and financial regulations.
· Ability to perform detailed financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
Leadership Skills:
