Our Client is seeking an experienced Controller to join this growing real estate investment firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial reporting with a preference for real estate investment management experience. The Controller will manage all financial operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, overseeing accounting teams, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
· Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the firm and its portfolio of real estate assets.
· Ensure that financial reports are accurate, timely, and in compliance with GAAP and relevant accounting standards.
· Provide detailed financial analysis to senior management, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
· Prepare investor reports, including quarterly updates, performance metrics, and capital account statements.
Accounting Operations:
· Manage the monthly close process, including the reconciliation of general ledger accounts, revenue, and expense allocations.
· Ensure proper accounting for acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and other complex real estate transactions.
· Oversee cash management and liquidity forecasting for both the company and its real estate assets.
Tax Compliance & Planning:
· Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations for the company and its investment properties.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
· Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for the company and its portfolio, working closely with senior management.
· Monitor and manage budget variances, providing actionable recommendations to improve financial performance.
· Develop cash flow forecasts, ensuring adequate liquidity for operations and investment opportunities.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
· 5+ years of experience in real estate accounting, financial reporting, or related fields, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
· Knowledge of real estate investment accounting preferred but not required
· Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
· Experience with accounting software
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management, investors, and external stakeholders.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
