Job Description :

The Controller will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position oversees general ledger preparation, accounts payable, tax, payroll, banking duties, financial reporting, year-end audit, Medicare cost report preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining accurate financial statements during the financial close and quarterly review process. Confirms accuracy of operating and financial reports.

  • Maintains ownership over the General Ledger ensuring new GL accounts are correctly added in accounting system reports in full compliance with GAAP policy.

  • Responsible for monthly financial statement preparation, assist with coordination of tax and audit related reporting (990’s, 1099’s, etc.), coordinate census information, cost reporting, and research complex accounting issues.

  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more robust internal controls and streamline best practice.

  • Technical accounting lead that assists in advising staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.

  • Work with external auditors and provide needed information for the annual audit.

  • Work with tax partner to complete timely tax filings.

  • Ensure HRIS system updated with appropriate information to support tax reporting to local, state, and federal agencies.

  • Assists in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.

  • Understands laws, regulations, and third-party payer requirements. Provides oversight to assure that the operation is in full compliance with these rules.

  • Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).

Required Qualifications :

Required Education & Experience:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance.

·       Minimum of five years financial leadership experience (Director or Controller level) within a healthcare environment.

·       Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), internal controls implementation, and technical accounting.

Computer Skills:

·       Proficient with Microsoft Office.

·       Sage Intacct experience preferred.

·       Gusto experience preferred.


Preferred Certifications

Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
