Job Description :

Our client, a behavioral healthcare center, is seeking a Controller to join our Accounting team in Franklin, TN. The Controller is responsible for directing and coordinating all the corporate office’s activities concerning financial administration including general accounting, payroll accounting, financial and statistical reporting, and all other aspects of the accounting department for the facilities and corporate office. They are also responsible for oversight of the monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, account analysis and monthly closing entries, as well as supervises all daily functions of the general accounting department, annual corporate office budget preparation, and external audit / tax fulfillment.


This position must have strong analytical, technological, communication and organizational skills. Candidate must be self-motivated, hands-on, and have the ability to work as a part of a team with others throughout the company. The position requires an active CPA license and at least ten years of experience in accounting with proficiency in traditional monthly accounting cycle processes. Healthcare and multi-entity experience is strongly preferred. 



  • Develops and implements financial systems, processes, controls, and procedures for accounting functions ensuring compliance with all GAAP standards.

  • Plans and monitors corporate budget and fiscal integrity for a given year consistent with company mission and goals. 

  • Oversees daily operation of entire corporate finance department.

  • Provides all financial information to operating management in a routine and timely manner ensuring accuracy in trends and costing across the company. 

  • Leads a team of highly engaged members through hiring, orienting, performance assessment and management, motivating, training, scheduling, and coaching to meet department goals and ensure effective and efficient department operation.

  • Facilitates timely closing of monthly financial records and preparation of accurate financial reports.  Supervises general journal entries in relation to monthly closing of financial records.

  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal taxing authority reporting deadlines. 

  • Establishes and implements short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures and works with department managers and corporate staff to develop long range business plans for the Company.

  • Participates in financial audits and provides recommendations for procedural improvements.

  • Supervises reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and fixed asset reporting on a monthly basis.

  • Supports all accounting staff and serves as a backup when needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications :

  • Active CPA license

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

  • Proficiency in Excel

  • Healthcare and multi-entity experience is strongly preferred

  • Familiarity with accounting for mergers & acquisitions and public accounting experience are highly valued.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics – Great Plains is a plus

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
