Job Description :
Our client in Cool Springs is seeking a Controller. The Controller is responsible for the overall coordination, functional management, leadership and performance of Accounting for the company. This position is responsible for managing the financial affairs of the organization and preparing financial analyses of operations, including financial statements and accounting records. This is currently a remote opportunity. 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following:

  • Accounting Management

  • Complete and/or provide oversight for the following Transactions:

    • Ensure that the General Ledger is accurate and reconciled to all subsidiary ledgers

    • Month-end closing entries and reconcile trial balances

    •  Monthly completion of financial statements, sales tax returns, and inventory reconciliation

    • Compute and reconcile accrued revenue on a monthly basis, including a cash-lag analysis

    • Reconcile gross charges and net collections on a monthly basis

    • Monitor revenue cycle aging and collections

    • Oversee contractual adjustments to include analysis of payer contracts and allowance pressure testing

    • Compute and reconcile physician’s compensation and bonuses on a monthly / quarterly basis

    • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed

    • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis

  • Complete and/or provide oversight for Financial Reporting

    • Ensure timely and complete financial statements

    • Ensure timely reporting for lender(s) and Private Equity partner

    • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report

    • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations

    • Calculate, challenge, and understand financial and operating metrics

    • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts

    • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

    • Provide for a system of management cost reports

    • Perform due diligence, financial analysis, and other accounting functions, such as opening balance sheet or working capital budgeting for acquisitions.

  • Compliance

    •  Oversee annual audit, including internal closing of audit with medium sized audit firm

    • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors or accountants, as needed

    • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants

    • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

Required Qualifications :

  • Experience as Controller

  • CPA

  • Multi-location healthcare and PE environment experience

  • Intacct a plus but NOT required

  • Hands-on management style with the desire to help build the organization on a national level

  • Financial management experience that includes timely month-end closing of 20 or more locations of a multi-site healthcare practice

  • Experience with Private Equity reporting cadence

  • Experience with medical reimbursement (Medicare, TNCare) and medical billing

  • Overall understanding of taxes, cash flow, and the business operations 

  • Experience with evaluating potential acquisitions and the due diligence process

  • Systems experience to include ERP installation, SQL queries, and EMR/ERP integration

  • Proven ability to manage remote staff as a line manager

  • Proven ability to manage dotted line reporting relationships
