Job Description :

Our client in Nashville, TN is seeking an Accounts Receivable & Collections Manager. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Receivable and Collection functions.  This person will work closely with all departments within the company in order to provide quality service to internal and external customers, and will properly manage all functions in accordance with corporate accounting practices and generally accepted accounting principles.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct a team of 7+ Accounts Receivable/Collections team members

  • Responsible for performance management of direct reports

  • Coordinate and review the work of the A/R staff and act as team backup as necessary

  • Identify, research, and resolve transaction discrepancies

  • Identify areas for process improvement and make recommendations for change

  • Maintain and enhance the data integrity of the A/R sub-ledger in Great Plains

  • Perform reconciliations at month and year-end close for the A/R module

  • Ensure reconciliations between Great Plains and various other systems are performed and reviewed on a regular basis

  • Assist with year-end audit process

  • Ensure team members provide outstanding customer service to internal and external contacts

  • Ensure proper cross-training exists among team members

  • Ensure proper documentation and written instruction exists for all tasks performed by team members

  • Manage the accounts receivable aging by way of the A/R Collections Analyst to ensure issues and customer collections are addressed in a timely manner

  • Perform other duties as directed by the Controller and Assistant Controller


Required Qualifications :

  • 4 year degree with Accounting major preferred

  • 5+ years’ experience managing a team of A/R personnel

  • Advanced PC skills including Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains a plus

  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and focus on accuracy

  • Strong verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task

  • Ability to translate information from multiple systems into meaningful information

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees

  • Ability to work outside core office work hours
