Established Chattanooga company has an immediate need for an experienced Accounting Manager to support the company's executive leadership team.  Responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger and month-end close procedures.  Requires excellent analytical skills along with a thorough knowledge of generally-accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to analyze financial reports and forecasts.  The ideal candidate also has experience collaborating and/or leading a team of accounting professionals. Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills. 

Responsibilities

·         On-board new employees.

·         Process payroll in accordance with prescribed pay cycles.

·         Process various state and/or local sales tax returns in a timely manner.

·         Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.

·         Prepare and post end of month journal entries

·         Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.

·         Monitor internal controls and efficiency/timeliness of financial reporting.

·         Support month-end and year-end close process.

·         Supervise accounting staff - plan, assign and review staff’s work.

·         Assist with internal and external audits to ensure compliance.

·         Assist with tax audits and tax returns.

·         Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.

Requirements and skills

·         Minimum of 8-10 years relevant accounting experience. 

·         Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures.

·         In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

·         Familiarity with financial statements.

·         Awareness of business trends.

·         Hands-on experience with accounting/ERP software packages

·         Advanced MS Excel Skills including V-Lookups and Pivot Tables.

·         Accuracy and attention to detail.

·         Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.

·         Proven track record collaborating with other teams/departments.

·         BS degree in Accounting (preferred) or Finance

  Relevant Certification (e.g., CPA or CMA) preferred
