Job Description :
We are currently seeking an Accounting Manager to lead a team of four reporting to the General Manager of Finance and Accounting. This position is responsible for managing the team to ensure work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. Responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

 


What you will do:

• Provide supervision, training, and direction to a team of accountants.

• Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

• Assess development of department – workload, staffing, time off, training and evaluating, and development of procedures and department goals. Coach team on professional development through regular goal setting and ongoing training.

• Coach, train, recruit hire and provide both formal and informal feedback to team; responsible for mentoring and professional development of team members; mentor staff accountants by helping them explore their passions and move their careers forward.

• Set a high bar, pay attention to detail, have a hardworking and intellectually curious mindset, and can effectively problem solve in a dynamic environment.

• Lead team and manage the timely monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close process, ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation; maintain a tight monthly financial close timeline and schedule.

• Perform detailed review of balance sheet account reconciliations; financial analysts including actual vs. budget reporting.

• Ensure the accurate and timely processing and provide positive pay transactions.

• Responsible for the monthly and quarterly bank compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.

• Evaluate, develop and improve department controls, systems and procedures to increase accuracy and efficiency.

• Continuous improvement to financial and operating policies, procedures and processes that improve consistency, accuracy and timeliness of reporting and strengthen internal controls.

• Support budget and forecasting activities.

• Collaborate with the other finance department managers to develop strategies, establish objectives and make decisions which could have a financial impact on the business.

• Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.

• Supervise the general ledger group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met. Initiate and develop processes and standards including streamlining and improving workflows to enhance the department.

Required Qualifications :

• Undergraduate Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance or a four-year degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA a plus but not required.

• 5-7 years prior supervisory experience in financial reporting and general ledger. Experience working in a professional services firm is preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams.

• Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions.

• Experience in analyzing business performance and developing financial plans within a service environment desirable. Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting, required.

• Strong analytical skills with a keen focus on both detail and the big picture.

• Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast -pace setting. Experience with, J.D. Edwards or other large, automated accounting system a plus. Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word is required.
