Job Description :
Our client, a family office, is looking for experienced executive to perform all wealth management accounting functions. This individual will be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of the office. This position reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for the accumulation and reconciliation of the accounting functions for the family’s trusts and entities. The successful candidate will be an experienced finance and accounting professional who has proficiency and a demonstrated track record of success working in or with a high-net-worth family office. The executive should be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit due the small nature of the office. The ideal candidate must have the intellectual capacity, communication/interpersonal skills and professional integrity to maintain the high standards expected of the family the office represents.

 


Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for the proper accounting and financial reporting of the family entities

  • Ensuring all family office executives and clients receive accurate, timely, and relevant financial information

  • Preparing, various internal and external reports, including monthly account reconciliations, balance sheets, financial statements, family member and trustee reporting, support for tax estimates and returns, management dashboards, and ad hoc requests

  • Managing book and tax accounting for corporate entities and partnerships; ensuring effective and proper use of financial systems to accomplish efficient book-to-tax reconciliations

  • Calculating equity ownership, tax basis tracking, and potential gain/loss on investments

  • Assist in the bill-pay process to ensure accuracy and completeness, including following up on missing invoices

  • Assist with tasks and projects related to family office operations

  • Act as liaison, providing financial reports and communicating effectively to family office executives and clients

  • Assist family office executives with ad hoc personal duties which include, but not limited to, running various errands, making appointments/phone calls, and managing multiple calendars

  • Assist in philanthropic commitments for family members and established foundations


Required Qualifications :

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or finance required; graduate degree or CPA preferred

  • Prior experience working with complex family office clients or ultra-high net worth family principals; has worked within a small, less structured environment which requires greater organization and motivation; understands and can relate well to family office clients and their unique needs; highly proactive approach to anticipating and serving client needs

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant finance and accounting roles within the wealth management space

  • Financial institution, family office, or trust company experience preferred

  • Excellent technical knowledge and ability to utilize accounting and investment software

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software

  • Analytical, abstract-reasoning, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Proactive and positive attitude; driven and results oriented

  • Team player, who enjoys partnering with others

  • Passion for improving processes and ensuring quality accounting information

  • Trust and partnership reporting experience desired

  • Strong understanding of financial and investment reporting

  • Flexible and adaptable with a “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach and mentality; works collaboratively to achieve objectives; outgoing, businesslike personality

  • Experience working with information technology support to manage finance and accounting software packages

  • Systems conversion and implementation experience highly desired

  • Strong common sense and judgement; self-confident individual who is able to engage in interactive discussion and provide objective recommendations with conviction to support decisions; diplomatic in interactions

  • Honest; high integrity; maintains utmost confidentiality and discretion; exhibits the presence, poise and professionalism to represent the family/family office effectively in all interactions
